Executive Order 6 - Extending Local Emergency


EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 6 

 

AN EXECUTIVE ORDER OF THE NIMS INCIDENT COMMANDER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR OF THE CITY OF PORT ORANGE, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXTENDING THE LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR AN ADDITIONAL 7-DAY PERIOD; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 

 

WHEREAS, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 20-52 on March 9, 2020, declaring that a state of emergency exists in every county in the State of Florida; and 

 

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Orange has declared a Local State of Emergency beginning March 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. pursuant to Resolution 20-12; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic may cause life threatening conditions for the residents of the City of Port Orange; and 

 

WHEREAS, its in the best interests of the public health and safety for residents to remain at home unless necessitated to leave; and 

 

WHEREAS, this pandemic continues to cause a local state of emergency. 

 

NOW THEREFORE, be it ordered by the NIMS Incident Commander and Emergency Management Director of the City of Port Orange, Volusia County, Florida, as follows: 

 

SECTION 1. The Local State of Emergency declared by City Council beginning March 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. is hereby extended for an additional 7-day period to March 30, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., unless otherwise terminated by resolution of city council or subsequent executive order. 

 

 SECTION 2. This Executive Order shall become effective immediately.
