EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 2

AN EXECUTIVE ORDER OF THE NIMS INCIDENT

COMMANDER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

DIRECTOR OF THE CITY OF PORT ORANGE, VOLUSIA

COUNTY, FLORIDA, REVOKING ALL SPECIAL EVENT

PERMITS AND SUSPENDING SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT

PROCESSING; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.


WHEREAS, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 20-52 on

March 9, 2020, declaring that a state of emergency exists in every county in the State of

Florida; and


WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Orange has declared a Local State

of Emergency beginning March 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. pursuant to Resolution 20-12; and

WHEREAS, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic may cause life threatening

conditions for the residents of the City of Port Orange; and


WHEREAS, its in the best interests of the public health and safety for residents to

avoid large gatherings of people; and


WHEREAS, special events provide opportunities for large gatherings where the

Coronavirus is capable of spreading;


NOW THEREFORE, be it ordered by the NIMS Incident Commander and

Emergency Management Director of the City of Port Orange, Volusia County, Florida, as

follows:


SECTION 1. The City of Port Orange hereby revokes all special event permits for

major and minor special events. The application fee shall be reimbursed to those

applicants who have active special event permits. No applications for major or minor

special event permits shall be accepted from the effective date of this Order until April 30,

2020.


SECTION 2. This Executive Order shall become effective immediately.
