Hello Port Orange!
As this is the last quarterly newsletter of the year, I can reflect on what has been a busy and historic year for our city, which includes the event we are going to celebrate next month for the 150th year of our founding. Most recently, we were paid a visit by Hurricane Irma. I am pleased with how the city came through it, and our staff in every department, from top to bottom, rose to the occasion once again to help us through. Great job team! As we continue the clean-up and the hard work to get our city back to a normal pace, I am amazed and pleased to see neighbors and businesses pulling together in true Port Orange fashion. My thanks to you all!
The Family Days Carnival and Fair was a big success, and it couldn't have come at a better time following Irma. As they are about to give away their Millionth dollar of support to our community, we congratulate them on reaching their goal on the Million-Dollar-Mission!
Coming up on October 31st, we will once again host Halloween Fest at City Center. This event continues to grow!
On Saturday, November 4th from 3 pm -7 pm, we will christen the long-awaited Riverwalk Park with a celebration worthy of this accomplishment and culminating with fireworks over the river! I hope to see everyone there!
On November 10th at 10am, we will celebrate Veterans Day in Memorial Park at City Center in what is always a very moving ceremony.
And lastly, we will be celebrating the Christmas season in our city, by kicking off with Christmas in the Park on the evening of Saturday, December 2nd, followed by the Annual Christmas Parade the next day on Sunday, December 3rd. This is a truly historic year for our city, and I hope everyone can join in the excitement...see you there!!!
