City of Port Orange Core Values are:

Commitment, Adaptability, Respect, Ethics & Integrity (C.A.R.E.)

Commitment

  • Be dedicated to a particular organization, cause, or belief, and a willingness to get involved.
  • The more people who are committed to their organization, the greater the momentum can be generated to get the job done.


Adaptability  

  • “The only thing constant is change.”  Change means always evolving, always improving.
  • Leaders must be adaptable in order to overcome obstacles on a daily basis.
  • Be flexible. Flexible at the department director level to step out of the comfort zone and do what hasn’t been done. Flexible at the mid-leadership level to allow line workers to make decisions. Flexible at the line level to make decisions.

Respect 

  • The responsibility to treat one another with respect, be true to their moral values and be cognizant of the authority of those they work for, regardless of whether you like them or not.
  • Work together to solve complex issues as long as one another’s differences, opinions and ideas are valued. Being respectful and work toward resolution not conflict.
  • Be respectful in ALL interactions that include face to face, phone, email, and social media. 


Ethics & Integrity 

  • The consistency of one’s values, principles, actions, outcome and how business is conducted.
  • Do the right thing when people are not looking.
  • Integrity breeds trust and trust in an organization goes a long way.
