2023 Interim Appointment Information

Council Member Kat Atwood submitted her resignation effective January 17, 2023, which created a vacancy in the Council Seat for District 2. Pursuant to the City's Charter, Section 3.05(c), the City Council shall fill the vacancy on an interim basis as there are more than twelve (12) months remaining in the unexpired term and no regular city election is scheduled within twelve (12) months. 

At the Regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, Council declared the District 2 seat vacant and determined the process to fill it on an interim basis. 

Interim candidates must be residents of District 2, a resident of Port Orange for the past (12) twelve months, must fill out the City's Boards/Commission Applications (link below), provide their resume, and be a registered voter of Volusia County. A City Council Meeting to appoint an interim council member will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The agenda will be posted prior to the meeting and can be found on the Agendas & Minutes page of this website.
