2019 Interim Appointment Information

At a Special City Council Meeting held on January 8, 2019, the Port Orange City Council declared a vacancy in Council Seat District 1 due to the untimely passing of Councilman Robert Ford. At the same meeting, Council called for a Primary and Special Election and determined the process for appointing an interim council member. 

Interim candidates must be residents of District 1, must fill out the City's Boards/Commission Applications (link below), and not be qualified to run for the permanent seat. A Special City Council Meeting to appoint an interim council member will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The agenda will be posted prior to the special meeting and can be found on the Agendas & Minutes page of this website.
