How to schedule an inspection
*UPDATED PROCESS: Great news! To improve customer and staff efficiency, we have created a new digital form for inspection requests, customized for both commercial and residential inspections. Please use the following forms to schedule your commercial or residential building permit inspection. There are detailed directions listed in each form; please follow directions to properly schedule your inspection and avoid delays.
- Commercial Inspection Request Form
- Residential Inspection Request Form
- Minor Engineering Permit Inspection Request Form: Application for minor site work such as clearing and grubbing, filling and excavation, sidewalks, driveways, pavement repairs or overlays, minor drainage improvements and other minor site work that is not otherwise incorporated into a Building Permit or Site Construction Permit.
NOTE: Once your inspection form has been submitted, please note that a confirmation return phone call or email from City staff is not necessary and that your inspection has been scheduled for the date and preferred time requested.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, while interacting with the public, inspectors are being asked to maintain the Centers for Disease Control’s recommended distance of six feet from people as much as is practical, and when needed will be using face and eye protection. If you or anyone at your workplace are symptomatic, please do not schedule your inspection at this time.
How can I check the status of my inspection?
If you would like to inquire about the status of your inspection, inspection results, or if you need to cancel an inspection, please call 386-506-5602 or send an e-mail at BuildingPermits@port-orange.org.
When inquiring about an inspection, please be prepared to provide the building permit number located on your permit card so that we may easily assist in locating your permit information. An example permit card is shown below, highlighting the location of permit number:
