Major Special Event Applications are not being accepted until January 1, 2021. Per Port Orange Executive Order 43, all major special events are suspended until the end of the year.
Major Special Event includes an event that:
a. Affects area(s) beyond the City of Port Orange;
b. Requires one or more roadway closures;
c. Hours of operation beyond 11:00 p.m.;
d. Outdoor amplified music beyond 7:00 p.m.; or
e. Held in conjunction with a regional event (e.g. Bike Week, Biketoberfest, Race Weeks).
Minor Special Event Applications are still currently being accepted and reviewed; however, according to Port Orange Executive Order 43, additional criteria that outlines how the proposed minor special event will comply with current CDC guidelines is required. Final approval for a Minor Special Event will be on a case-by-case basis if the City determines the event can be held safely according to the current CDC guidelines. A Minor Special Event is an event that does not meet all of the items above as "Major Special Event" and is 7 or less days. If a minor event is proposed and expected to last more than 7 consecutive days, it requires City Council approval and the application must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the first day of the event.
