The Grounds Maintenance Division is responsible for vegetative maintenance along City streets and around City buildings.  Typical activities include inspection and landscape maintenance under Public Works responsibility of properties, including rights-of-way landscape material, irrigation repair and maintenance, and general landscape maintenance mowing services performed by an in-house landscape maintenance crew and city contractors.  Other tasks assigned to this division are:

  • Tree Trimming and removal of hazardous trees
  • Chemical Applications, monitoring of insects and diseases which affect landscape plants Tree City USA

Tree Management

The Tree City, U.S.A. program was set up to encourage the planting and care of trees and shrubs throughout urban areas of the United States. The City of Port Orange has been involved with this program for over 30 years. Participation in Tree City, U.S.A. represents a strong community commitment to management of trees and other natural resources. The Tree City, U.S.A. program helps residents learn what they can do to make their community a better place in which to live.
