Deposits

The deposit required is based on two factors, meter size and location ownership status. For more information regarding deposit pricing, please see Resolution No 13 to 41 Water and Sewer (PDF). The City of Port Orange does not accept letters of credit or Dunn and Bradstreet Ratings. All deposits earn interest based on market rates. We post an interest credit to your utility account yearly.

The Following Are Guidelines Regarding Deposit Set-Up

  • We require complete deposits on all accounts for both owners and renters at the time of activation.
  • Owners renting out properties may request to put their deposits on hold.
  • Renters and commercial accounts may not share deposits between properties.
  • Individual owners can share deposits on the first 3 owned properties. Additional properties will require additional deposits.

Transferring Deposits

Deposits can be transferred between accounts if they meet the following criteria:
  • Both accounts must be in the name of the same individual - Deposits are non-transferable between individuals. In the event of the death of a spouse, upon our receipt of a new application in the surviving spouse's name and a copy of the death certificate, the deposit will be transferred to the surviving spouse's name.
  • Accounts must have a zero balance at the time of transfer. Final bills will be transferred to the new account.
  • Both accounts must be for the same customer status: Renter to Renter or Owner to Owner.
