Port Orange Fire Department Chief Joe Wulfing has served the City of Port Orange since 1999 and was appointed in July 2021 to lead the fire department in the fire chief role. Chief Wulfing's past assignments with Port Orange Fire and Rescue have included: Division Chief, Battalion Chief, Lieutenant, and firefighter/paramedic. Chief Wulfing holds a bachelor's degree in Fire and Emergency Services from the University of Florida, and he is a state-certified Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, and fire inspector. He is responsible for the overall operations of the fire department and the ever-changing environment of the fire services. Surrounded by capable leadership and solid employees, the department is well-positioned to provide the best service to the citizens and visitors of the community.
The Chief leads 62 members assigned to five fire stations to accomplish this, providing a broad range of fire and emergency services to the community.
During his tenure as Fire Chief, he has led efforts to continually improve the services provided to the community by employing the department's mission statement as a guide.
