PAY SCALE
As of October 1, 2007, the
starting salary for a Port Orange Police Officer is $37,140.00. Applicants with significant previous law
enforcement experience may be eligible for a higher entry level pay grade, up to
step three. Eligibility for the higher entry level pay is determined based on
years of experience as a full-time, sworn police officer.
Each year, on the employee's anniversary date, there
is a 2.5% step increase. In addition to the annual step increase, there
is an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) on October 1st. The amount depends
on the CPI index published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Southeastern
Regional Office, Atlanta. The annual COLA ranges between 2-4 percent.
