Summary:
This is non-sworn law enforcement and clerical work, which involves moderately
complex and usually varied work methods.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities include the following. These are intended only
as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of

Responds to minor crime scenes and conducts
scene investigations and evidence processing. |

Directs traffic and related traffic
service. Assists officers with traffic and crowd control at special events. |

Enforces various parking related offenses
and issues citations when appropriate. |
 |
Conducts home security and business checks.
Conducts vacation house watches. |
 |
Participates in varied citizen awareness
and crime protection programs. |
 |
May transport persons and deliver paperwork
and evidence as needed. |
 |
Collects evidence and maintains crime scene
integrity under the direction of the evidence personnel. |
 |
Ability to man the front desk and take
reports as required. |
 |
Address animal control calls and related
offenses. Handle minor calls for service. |
 |
Performs directed patrols as requested. |
Qualification

routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with the
public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving
several variables in standardized situations. Ability to make minor decisions in
accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established policies.

Summary:
Field work enforcing the City's Animal Control Ordinance.
Essential Duties and

Patrols the City to locate and catch stray
animals. Picks up live, sick and dead animals. Investigates complaints and
reports of stray, vicious or possible rapid animals. |

Issues warnings to owners of animals being
permitted to run loose. Issues court citations against animal owners who
refuse to comply with City Animal Control laws or other offenses. Testifies
in court against such persons. |
 |
Prepares reports and maintains accurate
records and files. |
 |
Performs related work as required. |

Summary: Clerical

Operates computer terminal to recover and
store records data. Logs offense reports. Index reports and cards. Types
from copy, rough draft, or general instructions, all materials relating to
activities in the records division. Processes arrests, I.D. cards, etc. |

Writes long and short reports. Receives
cash payment for accident reports, I.D. and fingerprint cards. Prepares
reports of cash received. |

Assists public with information about
reports, police record checks, etc. |

Performs statistical and record keeping
functions. Assists officer in researching information and records. |

Acts as receptionist. Gives general
information concerning regulations in office procedures. Answers telephone
calls and transfers to appropriate extension. |
