CAREER ADVANCEMENT

The Port Orange Police Department is a progressive law enforcement agency which practices proactive, community-oriented policing. Police officer development is a prime concern. New officers will complete an intensive 16 week field training program. After the prerequisite experience in the patrol division has been completed, officers are eligible to compete for assignment to a variety of specialty positions. These positions include, but are not limited to:

Criminal Investigations Division

Special Investigations Unit

Motors/Traffic Enforcement

Traffic Homicide Investigator

Emergency Response Team

Marine Unit

K-9 Officer

Drug Recognition Expert (DRE)

Field Training Officer

Bicycle Patrol
