pogTV FILM FESTIVAL
The 3rd ANNUAL pogTV FILM FESTIVAL IS HERE! SUBMIT YOU FILMS BY 5:00 p.m. ON MAY 20, 2010. The Entry Form link can be found on this page. The goal of the pogTV Film Festival is to enhance and encourage the educational experience of the participants by providing a real world educational opportunity beyond the classroom, afford an avenue by which to showcase their talents, and offer positive, critical comments from industry judges. The festival will seek participants from local Volusia County high schools and college video programs.

Congrats to all who participated in the 2009 pogTV Film Festival! The first place winner in the College Film Group with the suspenseful “The Drifter,” was Craig Calamis from the University of Central Florida. Second place in the college group went to Chris Tharp from the University of Central Florida with the creative “The Coffin Maker.”
In the High School Film Group, Spruce Creek High School filmmakers Andrew Willis and Brandon Sanichar won with the unique “With My Own Two Eyes.” Caroline Given from Father Lopez High School won second place with the emotional film called “Guaranteed Tomorrow.”

The top 2 films in the High School and College groups win a cash prize. In addition, an overall Film Festival Winner will be selected by an online vote like last year. Spruce Creek High students Kara Young, Brandon Sanichar, Andrew Willis, and Jessie Thompson won for their "With My Own Two Eyes" that took the 2nd Annual pogTV Film Festival Overall Winner Award!

College Film Group:

College Film Group:
- 1st Place - "Furious Red Dot" by Ryan Cooper.
- 2nd Place - "An Old Irish Blessing" by Ryan Cooper.
High School Film Group:
1st Place - "Detention" by Stephanie Bennett, Troy Thompson, Alica Moskola, PJ Pivec, Maryam Khazraee, Nathan Tyner, and Reagon Smythe.
2nd Place - "Your Hand in Mine" by Gina DeJesus and Vince Polizzi.
Festival Format:
Entries will be separated into two groups - high school and college. There is no fee associated with the entries and no individual categories such as drama or animation. The participants will submit DVD copies for judging. Judging criteria will be developed by the judges and will focus on but not limited to creativity, overall production, technical talent, and concept. The submitted films will compete within each group. A first place and second place winner will be selected from the two groups. Cash awards will go to the winners.
Once the judging is complete, the Film Festival will be broadcast on pogTV. All entries will air and the winners for each group will be announced during the broadcast. The first place winners from both groups will then compete for the overall film festival winner award. Selection of the overall winner will be determined via an online vote. A separate broadcast featuring the awards presentation will air on pogTV Channel 199.
Judges:
Stephen Schlow, University of Central Florida Film Department, Dr. John Wilton Daytona State College Visual Arts Department, and Matt Roberts, Program Director of Digital Arts at Stetson University.
Entry Rules:
Students from Volusia County and Seminole County High Schools and students from Bethune-Cookman Univ., Daytona State College, Univ. of Central Florida, the Advanced Technology Center, Stetson Univ. and Flagler College are eligible to submit films. For consideration, films must not be shorter than 2 minutes and no longer than 20 minutes in duration. Films with questionable language and content, or deemed offensive by the Film Festival Governing Board will be omitted from the judging. The Film Festival Governing Board is comprised of the Port Orange City Manager and pogTV Staff.
2010 Schedule:

- Judging and Ranking: May 24 - June 4, 2010
- Film Festival Broadcast on pogTV and Official announcement
of Winners: June 11, 2010 (Prime Time)
- Online Voting for Overall Winner: June 11 – 1, 2010
- REPLAY of Film Festival: June and July 2010 (Primetime and Afternoon Times)
- REPLAY once a month and during the 2011 Film Festival.
