Port Orange Awarded Tree City USA Award for 30th Consecutive Year
PORT ORANGE, FL – For the 30th consecutive year, Port Orange will receive the Tree City USA Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation. The award was recently announced and is based on the City’s fulfillment of urban forestry program standards, Arbor Day observance, tree planting efforts, and enforcement of tree ordinances. There are 165 tree cities in Florida, but Port Orange is one of 13 communities that have earned the award for 30 or more consecutive years.
Mayor Allen Green stated, “The award showcases the community’s commitment to staying the course.”
Port Orange will celebrate Arbor Day with a ceremony on April 28, 2013, at the Kenneth W. Parker Amphitheater, 2001 City Center Circle, starting at 6:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
