MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
Welcome to our web page. I hope you find the information to be beneficial, educational and interesting.
Your Fire Rescue Department continues to work toward our goal of making the community as safe as possible. We strive to provide the highest levels of service and continually work to improve our skills. Over the past year our efforts have been recognized in a variety of ways. The Department was given the prestigious award of “Florida Emergency Medical Services Provider of the Year” (2007), the Paramedic Clinical Competition Team took 1st Place in the “National Advanced Life Support Competition” (2008), Division Chief Chris Weir was named “Florida Fire Marshal of the Year” (2008) and I, myself, am honored to be named "Florida Fire Chief of the Year” (2008).
We could not accomplish this without the support of all of the members of the Fire Rescue Department, City employees, City Council Members and especially you, for your community support.
We continue to build a department that is second to none. Two new fire stations are under construction to better serve the Southwest and Northwest.
We have improved our wild land firefighting capabilities with the addition of two new apparatus: a Ford F550 and a Wildland Ultra XT.
We have started posting community educational safety and wellness videos on PogTV.
Our personnel have received advanced training in emergency operations and incident safety. We have just completed our fourth year of a proactive wellness program in concert with Florida Health Care and have documented numerous health-related successes.
