MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF

I have served close to 28 years in the fire service with the last six years being at the level of Chief of Department. I have witnessed a lot of change in the services fire departments provide to the community and Port Orange is a prime example of a community where its fire fighters embrace and promote changes that make the community safer. I have a saying that I truly believe should be the mission of the entire fire service. "We must work diligently to eliminate the need for our services through proactive prevention and education efforts for all of our citizens". Every time we respond to an emergency someone is physically, emotionally, or financially hurt. Our number one goal is to prevent that pain from occurring. When we can’t prevent emergencies we must respond and react with the highest level of professionalism and courtesy toward those who need us.

One way to meet this goal is to meet with you; we have many opportunities to interact through City events. As Chief, I would be glad to meet with you through your homeowner, social or business associations. We would be glad to hear any concerns about our services or suggestions for future needs.

Remember: your fire fighters are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so, don’t hesitate to call. We might not be able to solve all of your problems, but we will be able to assist you find the help you need.
