Division Chief Ken Burgman

OPERATIONS

Chief Ken Burgman was tasked with the Operations Division in 2005.

The Department has 65 career personnel, who staff four fire stations and service approximately 56,000 residents in a coverage area of about 28 square miles, with another additional 12 square miles of wildland area in the City’s wellfields. The City has a Class IV ISO rating, the best in Volusia County. The Department has been widely recognized for its performance and innovation at both the state and national levels. None of these accolades can be accomplished without an efficient Operations Division. This Department continues to provide quality advanced and basic life support, fire suppression, and specialized rescue services to the community.

In addition to delivering these emergency services, the Operations Division assists several other Departments to ensure that assignments, projects, and citizen needs are addressed and met. Operations coordinates with Public Education to provide resources for special programs at the area schools and at other venues. The Operations Division also assists with fire safety inspections, fire protection, smoke detector installations and healthcare.

Chief Burgman is well-equipped to keep the Department running smoothly. As an experienced and well-rounded leader, Chief Burgman brings innovation and quality services to the Port Orange community.
