Port Orange Emergency Management

Each year disaster threatens hundreds of thousands of people. Many are not prepared. The City of Port Orange wants our community to be as disaster resistant as possible. Please take a moment to explore the links below and please feel free to contact us with questions and concerns. We’re here to help.

If disaster should strike we will make every effort to keep you informed about our efforts. You can tune into Channel 99 on the Brighthouse Network for life safety tips from our staff and up to the minute information should our Emergency Operations Center be activated. We will continue to broadcast provided we have that opportunity. Otherwise, the official public information stations are:

When our EOC is activated our Citizen’s Information Line is staffed 24 hours a day. That number during disasters is (386) 506-5999. The staff will have information regarding sandbag locations and Ice and Water Distribution Centers should they be necessary.

Did you know if you are a person with special needs, resources are available to you? Please take a moment and register as a special needs person with Volusia County if you meet the following criteria:

• elderly
• physically, mentally or sensory disabled
or require oxygen therapy.

Quadriplegics, isolation patients or individuals who need dedicated 24-hour nursing care or require a hospital bed or ventilator should not go to a PSN shelter. These individuals should discuss other shelter arrangements with their physician, caregiver or home health agency. A PSN who must evacuate to a shelter and needs assistance with their pet should contact Volusia County Animal Services at (386) 248-1790.
