The Reclaimed Water Division consists of sixteen employees responsible for the efficient and effective operation of advanced secondary treatment of sewage collected from the City of Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, Daytona Beach Shores and a portion of the unincorporated surrounding area. This facility is also a manufacturing plant for reuse or reclaimed water, which is distributed to an increasing number of locations throughout the City. Port Orange has been a leader in the development of a City-wide reclaimed water system for irrigation. Many residents and businesses presently enjoy the benefits of the reclaimed water system, particularly since this type of water is much less expensive than irrigating with potable water.

The operators are also responsible for the operating of a remote 3 million gallon reclaimed water tank and pumping facility located near Summer Trees subdivision. The plant is located at 817 Oak Street, named the R. Dwayne Huffman Reclaimed Water Plant, and is manned twenty-four hours per day. All operators are licensed by the state and required to undergo continuing education requirements in order to maintain their licensure.

The wastewater treatment plant may be contacted at 506-5785.
